Black Sun evokes a core: its smooth, dense, and luminous centre absorbs light and holds a silent force, while the finely carved material surrounding it diffuses it in a progressive vibration. The work invites us to perceive matter not as an immobile mass, but as a space animated by invisible movements. The Point captures the fragile instant of a rare suspended morning: a black bowl gathers the silence of a levitating sun, while the red sphere seems to hold time.
France Chappuis (France, 1997) is a French artist and sculptor of Italian-Swiss origins.
Her work explores the concepts of rootedness, balance, and sacredness.
Sensitive to ritual and tradition, she imprints gestures, beliefs, and presences into matter. Through engraving and glass carving, she investigates the relationship between material and memory: glass captures and seals light, whether natural, artificial, or perceived as divine.
