The 12th Annual Honey Garden Picnic celebrates the ongoing oasis Judi Harvest created in 2013 on a forgotten field behind the Giorgio Giuman Glass Factory on Sacca Serenella, as part of her exhibition “DENATURED: Honeybees + Murano”. The exhibition brought awareness to two endangered colonies of beauty, honeybees and Murano glass workers. She sourced 6 boatloads of soil, 500 flowering plants and 30 fruit trees, including a 100 year old pomegranate tree. Then added four honeybee colonies from Sant’ Erasmo. The once forgotten field is now an oasis. Two crises, one global and environmental, the other local and cultural, had converged.
