In collaboration with Comitato per la Salvaguardia dell’Arte delle Perle di Vetro Veneziane

The exhibition “ Back from Africa” aims to highlight the religious, aesthetic, ritual, and social use of Venetian glass beads in Africa. Through a series of objects, video installations, and photographs, a journey created amount various tribal realities, rituals still practiced, and contemporary uses of Venetian glass beads.
The glass beads, produced in such large quantities in the Venetian insular territory, have traveled and reached the most remote regions of the African continent, becoming a very important part of the intangible cultural heritage of many native communities and influencing art and social life from the past to the present day.
