The object, called ‘Válec’ (Cylinder), is based on a relatively broad and long-standing concept, which focuses on a combination of materials, glass and asphalt. It is essentially a glass cylinder completely filled with asphalt. In spite of its physical characteristics and instability, the asphalt is constantly moving and gradually leaking out of the cylinder.
Tomáš Prokop (b. Czech Republic, 1992) creates works with a common theme involving the passage of time and the relativity of relationships. He always carefully chooses the material for his works with regard to the content and form of the message. Prokop's installations, combining glass with leaking asphalt, impress with their programmatic transience.
