Opening Party and The Floating Furnace: great success for the first weekend

On Friday 8th September around 400 guests gathered at Palazzo Franchetti, home of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, to celebrate the launch of the seventh edition of The Venice Glass Week.  The evening also marked the Inauguration of the two HUBs at Palazzo Loredan.  The festival’s Official Cocktail Sponsor Select provided drinks for the evening, and guests were also able to enjoy the spectacular return of The Floating Furnace, organised and promoted by Consorzio Promovetro Murano thanks to the support of Select.  Over the past four days, The Floating Furnace has also been moored on the Grand Canal by Campo dell’Erbaria, with a series of free glassmaking demonstrations by some of Murano’s finest glass masters, watched by hundreds of admiring onlookers.  The final demonstration for #TheArtofFire took place last night from 6-8pm.
