Silvia Finiels’ work "Valesando in the Lagoon" (meaning rowing in the traditional manner) is a large and intricate installation made up of over 1,000 Murano glass elements. It aims to evoke this very landscape in a dreamlike way, imagining oneself gently surrendering to it, engaging in a loving dialogue with the rhythmic caress of the oar, which, as it skims the water, creates endless magical shapes and reflections.
Like an impressionist painting, rich in plays of color and light, the artwork abstractly recalls the amphibious nature of the lagoon—made of watery mirrors embroidered with mudflats and salt marshes—and its natural "breath," embodied in the cyclical alternation of seasons, sunrises, sunsets, sun and rain, wind and fog.
