Ulrika Barr explores the balance between control and loss of control, using glass as a metaphor for the boundary between the tangible and the unknown. Inspired by science, myth, and mysticism, her Ouroboros series, presented here through Capsule and Solaris, investigates cycles of destruction and regeneration. The works emerge from sand, crack, grow, and collapse, only to be reborn, like the serpent devouring its own tail.
Ulrika Barr (Sweden, 1984) is a glass artist who graduated from Orrefors and Konstfack, Stockholm, where she obtained an MFA in 2018 and currently teaches glass. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in public collections, including that of the Swedish Arts Council. Her practice explores the relationship between nature and craft, investigating themes of mysticism, femininity, and the body.
