This work aims to highlight the problematic nexus between human choices and habitat impact. Reminiscent of diaphanous marine life-forms, the high edge of this vessel represents the ocean surface where phytoplankton live; oceanic micro-organisms responsible for significant oxygen production. Microscopic life forms aren’t visible: since they are unseen, the question presented through this artwork’s narrative is, are they valued, or valued enough?
Sabrina Dowling Giudici (Australia, 1965) is an Italo-Australian storytelling artisan. Using glass art as objects for storytelling, Sabrina
expresses the natural conservation values of her Australian home between the world-heritage areas of Shark Bay and the Ningaloo
Coast – the beauty of the flora, fauna, geology and geography; highlighting stories that unify Earth-Sea-Sky elements as mutually
dependent habitats.
