Event organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia

In collaboration with Con il patrocinio di Comitato Nazionale Italiano A.I.H.V. A cura di / Curated by Augusto Panini, Chiara Squarcina, Mauro Stocco -Organizzazione / Organized by Monica Piscina

The conference dedicated to glass beads has become a regular feature of the rich annual program conceived and organized by the Fondazione Musei Civici for The Venice Glass Week, the international festival founded in 2017 to celebrate, support, and promote the art of glass. Each year, the chosen theme explores a specific aspect of the history and production of glass beads over the centuries, on a global scale. This edition of the conference will feature various presentations demonstrating how the production of beads (lampwork, conterie, rosetta) was crucial to the 19th-century Murano glass industry and the Venetian economy, while also highlighting the historical and artistic value of this production.
