The section of the exhibition "Paperweights, Doorstoppers, Gatestoppers" at the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo runs alongside the one hosted at the Spazio Sorelle Sent in Murano and focuses mainly on the production of glass paperweights in Venice during the 19th century. The success and widespread popularity that this type of glasswork achieved in European glassworks — especially those in France and Silesia — as well as in America throughout the 1800s, has its origins precisely in the lagoon city. The exhibition presents the public with several significant and rare examples from Bigaglia’s paperweight production, which lasted for a relatively short period, from around 1845 to 1847. The display will also include some examples of 20th-century Murano paperweight production.
