Marta Sforni: Microspheres

Event organised by Marta Sforni

Marta Sforni explores the symbolic lexicon of Venice through a painting that transfigures roundels into blown glass spheres. The work explores the tension between the perfect geometry of the sphere and the fragility of the material, becoming an allegory of a precarious cosmos.
Inspired by Peter Sloterdijk's microspherology, Sforni depicts glass as a protective "bubble": a sensitive shell that not only contains but also protects human vital space. In this scenario, the homage to Carlo Scarpa's motifs acts as a structure of hope and positivity, transforming the glass surface into a luminous architecture capable of giving order and meaning to our suspended existence.
