Luciano Gaspari - memories of

Event organised by Alessandro Zoppi Gallery

On the occasion of the 10th edition of The Venice Glass Week 2026, AlessandroZoppiGallery presents a small exhibition dedicated to Luciano Gaspari (Venice, 1913–2007), painter, designer, and Artistic Director of Salviati & C. from 1955 to 1968.

Rather than offering a comprehensive survey of Gaspari's work, one of the leading figures in the history of Venetian glass in the second half of the twentieth century, the exhibition is conceived as a tribute to his artistic talent and, above all, to his remarkable human qualities.

During the summer evenings of the 1990s, Luciano Gaspari and his wife Bruna would often meet Alessandro Zoppi and his family in Campo Santa Maria del Giglio. Their conversations about Venice, art, and glass developed into a sincere friendship. Gaspari also took a particular interest in the young Ascanio, always asking about his progress and following his growth with genuine affection.

Looking back today, those memories take on a special significance. Luciano Gaspari represents an ideal link between Alessandro Zoppi (1945–2025) and his son Ascanio (1992), who now carries the gallery forward with his own personal vision, combining continuity with renewal.

The exhibition is therefore intended as a double tribute: on the one hand to Luciano Gaspari, an artist and a man of rare sensitivity; on the other to Alessandro Zoppi, marking the first anniversary of his passing. At the same time, it symbolically acknowledges the transition to a new generation, introducing Ascanio as the natural continuation of a family and cultural legacy deeply rooted in the artistic traditions of Venice.

The exhibition features a selection of works created by Luciano Gaspari for Salviati between the 1960s and the 1980s, alongside a number of unique pieces. They have been chosen not as part of a retrospective, but as witnesses to a human and cultural bond whose legacy continues to resonate today.
