The exhibition "Like a stone" at the Lucio Bubacco Gallery on the occasion of “The Venice Glass Week" 2023 presents the works of the Masters Paul Stankard and Lucio Bubacco where the lampwork technique acts as a trait d'union.
The mythological story of Perseus and Medusa becomes an allegory on how everyday life can be metabolized and thanks to the triangulation of the gaze, it gives us a way to free ourselves from the passivity of reality (petrification).
Perseus' strategy is in fact controlled by the bounce of his gaze off a mirror, as the two artists experiment with glass techniques, finding the necessary counterpoint to fantasy and scientific nature.
