Lemon Lamp

Event organised by Caroline LaCava

Caroline LaCava’s contour line drawings come to life when she steps into the neon shop. Creating optical illusion in Glass requires constant trial and error; she relates this process to her life experience as someone who is frequently reinventing herself. Caroline draws inspiration for her Lemon Lamps from her Sicilian ancestry, since Sicily is known for its citrus fruits.

Caroline LaCava (b. USA, 1997) is a NYC-based artist who displays her neon in ways that contradict traditional signage. After graduating with her BFA at Alfred University in 2019, she delved deeper into the technicalities of bending Glass while working in production sign shops in Brooklyn. She has since spent most of her time during the pandemic using those skills to execute a new body of sculptural work.
