Dylan Katz works with a simple paradox: glass is not ice and yet...

This year, in collaboration with Muranese Maestri Fabiano Amadi and Lucio Bubacco, drawing upon the rich sculptural language of all three artists, he has created Jötenheimr: An Uncanny Connection. A mythical realm in which the Jötnar, the frost giants of Norse mythology, emerge from within the glass itself, beings made of the very material world they inhabit, surfacing as the molten mass cools and finds its form. Part of Katz's ongoing series Uncanny Connections, tracing the hidden lattice that ties together culture, climate and consciousness.
