The Craft of the Master Glassmaker

Event organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia - MUVE Education

Who is the master glassmaker? What does he do? Where does he work, and what tools does he use? These and other questions will be answered through an immersive educational journey dedicated to an ancient yet still relevant craft—a symbol of Venetian identity. Thanks to their skill and imagination, master glassmakers have succeeded over the centuries in shaping molten glass with remarkable technique and skill, creating stunning works that have made Murano’s artistic glass renowned worldwide.
This experience will take place during the family activity offered at the Abate Zanetti Glass School, where participants will have the chance to handle traditional tools and discover the stages involved in crafting a handkerchief vase, before watching a live demonstration of its creation.
The journey concludes at the Glass Museum, where visitors can explore a true historical “catalogue” of masterpieces produced over the centuries.
The activity begins at the Abate Zanetti Glass School and then moves to the Glass Museum.
Duration: 2h
For families with children aged 11 to 14.
