In this transparent panel, imagination and nature meet. A fragile silhouette, like a tree that also captures its reflection in the water, distorted but familiar. As if it were pausing for a moment: who am I on this side of the light? What is directly visible is only half; the illuminated reality creates shadows, where a second figure lives! A whisper of poetry in reality.
Ida Scheijgrond (The Netherlands, 1957) after twenty years of ceramics, longed for something even more challenging, playful and light. Glass naturally attracted her. In 2016, she started studying Glass Art in Mechelen, and there she found glass fabric: fragile, almost textile. When she first saw it melt into glass, it was as if the material could breathe. Quiet, clear, and full of promise. It felt like coming home.
