These are reflections on current and crucial issues for the future, especially in the Venetian context: how will glass be processed in the next future? How will digitalisation affect the way we design and use glass? What is the potential for glass design and craftsmanship in comparison with digital? So, what are the future challenges for glass sector?

The Vetro Futuro workshop will begin at 9am on Tuesday 17 September and will end at 7pm on Wednesday 18 September 2024. The male and female students will be hosted (free board and lodging) in a facility in Venice, which will also grant its spaces for the work and preparation of the final presentation.
The hackathon will consist of two days of intensive workshop during which students from the two Venetian universities will be divided into teams and supported by experts and university lecturers to imagine possible scenarios of future glassmaking, in relation to the themes of sustainability, new technologies, art and generational change.
The results of the hackathon will be presented at a closing event, open to the public, on the evening of Wednesday 18 September, as well as in possible future publications.
