Glass flowers. Minako Shimonagase’s creations

Event organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia

In collaboration with Comune di Venezia

The Japanese artist Minako Shimonagase exhibits her floral compositions made with tiny polychrome glass beads, the famous conterie, strung on metal wire in the fascinating rooms of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum.
Minako creates luminous bouquets and panels of flowers, with three-dimensional effects, combining the traditional Venetian technique of beaded flowers with the sensitivity and delicacy typical of the Japanese world. The risult is a modern Japanese style bead flower. In 2011 Minako, helped by a number of Japanese students, built a huge cherry tree, in memory of the victims of the Fukushima earthquake.
