The installation Wave stems from a fascination with simple constructions and develops thanks to a feeling of connection. Two elements interlocked by gravity form a construction and an angle. Repetition creates a wavy line, a reference to the Rhine, which connects people and cultures.
The coloured glass captures the space and the fluid movement of the viewer, allowing them to become part of the installation.
Florian van Dalen (The Netherlands, 1989) studied product design at ArtEZ and took a master of arts at the Institut für Künstlerische Keramik und Glas. His work balances between systemic thinking and capturing everyday experiences in abstract forms, with an eye for function and simplicity. Inspired by artists such as Charles Gaines, he explores how rules, material and movement shape form, sculpture and installation.
