Vladimír Kopecký (Praha, CZ, 1931) has been experimenting with gestures and processes since the 1950s, improvising large-scale sculptural canvases with paint spontaneously smeared, poured over, or thrown at flat glass planes, metal sheets, and other industrial materials. The new works we present, bear all these hallmarks. Smaller in scale, equal in impact, Kopecký is now painting on blown Murano glass with vitreous enamels, a material and art form dating back to the Roman Empire.
