Clara Schweers. Vein Mirror

Event organised by Clara Schweers

The hand-polished and silvered mirror appears to be of metallic origin but is in fact made of glass. By creating intricate patterns, Schweers translates glass into a partially digital medium, enabling her to create seemingly virtual and yet handcrafted shapes and environments. Although physically non-conductive, her mirror passes on aspects of digital cultures in (non-) traditional, analog and visual ways.

Clara Schweers (b. Germany, 1994) is a visual artist and designer, exploring the capabilities and limitations of computer-generated forms across various mediums, including glass, ceramics and digital storytelling. Through her objects and installations Schweers fuses time-honoured techniques with contemporary visions. She brings physicality to her visual language through a digitally anchored and yet craft-based approach – from distortion to high-definition.
