Taeyi Kang. Compunction about Spiritual Strongholds

Event organised by Taeyi Kang

Taeyi Kang explores the quality of fragility in glass, viewing it as an ideal material through which to represent sensitive topics and metaphors for existence relating to human conditions such as fragility, grief, trauma and loss. The artist appreciates how glass can be repaired or healed through heat. She works to give a message of hope about human existence and life, seeking to convey empathy, comfort and love.

Taeyi Kang (b. South Korea, 1991) was raised in South Korea, where she started her Ceramics and Glass career. To broaden her expertise, she embarked on the MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art in 2018. During this time, she focused her interest on glassmaking. She expresses and tells her stories through visually poetic work, by relating the properties of ceramics and glass to human nature.
