Beach-washed jewels embody Gustafson’s signature style: vibrant, hand-blown forms layered with intricately cut patterns and subsequently sandblasted. Inspired by nature and rooted in tradition, these luminous works evoke transformation – cutting through the surface to reveal inner light. The glass becomes a metaphor: shaped by breath, etched by hand, and alive with light.
Carrie Gustafson (USA, 1973), a RISD-trained artist, is widely recognised for her modernist aesthetic and joyful sensibility.
Working from her Cambridge studio, she creates vibrant vessels, wall pieces, and installations that radiate color and light. Using
intricately hand-cut patterns, her work bridges centuries-old techniques with a distinct contemporary voice – bringing a modern,
meditative presence to any space.
