Discover Murano - one of the most charming islands in the Venetian lagoon - by night. Follow an enchanting candlelit route around the island’s canals and streets, passing through a series of eight glass furnaces in full activity.
The first impression upon entering the ‘opificio’ (workshop) is one of extreme heat, followed by the scent of wet wood burning upon contact with incandescent glass.
Dominating the furnace is the Glass Master on his ‘magiosso’ (Venetian for stool), surrounded by his time-honoured tools. The soundtrack is one of iron and glass.
At the end of the route, all participants are warmly invited to take part in the closing party, a traditional fish dinner, in the walled garden behind the Basilica di Santa Maria e San Donato, the main church of Murano.
