Notes by Laura Sattin – Waste glass

Event organised by Laura Panchaud e Laura Sattin

“Notes by Laura Sattin – Waste glass” presents a series of experiments made using waste glass collected at a glassblowing workshop in Switzerland. Thanks to a research grant from the Ikea Foundation Switzerland, Sattin began exploring possible directions by fusing, slumping, and blowing the recovered fragments, with the aim of developing sustainable processes for discarded glass scraps resulting from glassblowing. From spontaneous and random trial and error, a language of its own slowly emerges, opening the way to possible applications. This intervention attempts to reveal what usually remains behind closed doors or within the designer’s mind or notebook. It offers an insight into a work in progress and personal observations that accompany an experiment in search of sustainable directions.

Laura Panchaud is currently completing her master’s degree at IUAV University and developing an independent platform dedicated to exploring glass and its making through collaboration and exchange. “Notes by Laura Sattin – Waste glass” presents the first edition of this project. Red Carpet for All, a socially inclusive association, generously hosts this small exhibition in their courtyard. To include a moment of shared making, artist Huang Xiaozhe will lead a glass bead workshop on Thursday, September 18, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, with the Red Carpet for All community.

The inauguration of the event will take place after the workshop on Thursday, September 18, starting at 5:30 pm.
