Anna-Kaisa Kukkonen-Madi. L Ä H D E Spring

Event organised by Anna-Kaisa Kukkonen-Madi

L Ä H D E Spring installation by Finnish glass artist Anna-Kaisa Kukkonen-Madi brings out the necessity of pure groundwater and natural springs. “The eternal springs have been reduced or polluted by intensive forestry. The sound, scent and visual appearance of our environment shape our lives, but our experience of the environment is changing rapidly. My sculptures are reminders or notes of what there once has been”, the artist says.

Anna-Kaisa Kukkonen-Madi (Finland,1964) is a Finnish glass artist who is inspired by northern nature. Her art speaks especially about pure water. “My goal is to find the soul of a phenomenon and transfer it to glass, and glass is the mysterious interpreter of my memories.”
She works with her professional team of glassblowers in Riihimäki. She values pure form and the original nature of glass. The artist lives and works in Eastern Finland surrounded by lakes.
