Anda Munkevic. Spine Backbone

Event organised by Anda Munkevica

Spine Backbone explores the construction of humanity as a unified organism, where different generations flow together like a shared bloodstream. An interwoven nervous system connects us all—the foundation of love and the protective voice of conscience. Rather than each person existing for themselves alone, we are called to think of the collective whole. The guardian protects the homeland, supported by the wisdom of elders—fathers and mothers who came before. At the pinnacle stands the sacred union of mother and child who symbolise a prayer for peace.

Anda Munkevica (Latvia, 1974) obtained a master's degree in Glass Art in 2001 and in Sculpture in 2021. She perfected her skills in the United States, at the Eastlake Glass Studio and the Pratt Fine Arts Centre in Seattle and the Pilchuk Glass School. In 2002, she founded the glass art and design company “AM studio”. Since 1998, she has held over twenty-five solo exhibitions. She has actively participated in symposia, competitions and glass art festivals. Her works have been selected and included in numerous museums, nominated and awarded by juries.
