La Grande Madre is a contemporary Venetian mirror that reflects the fragile balance between human activity and the lagoon environment. The golden center, the principle of life, is engraved with black dots that evoke the septi, the city's load-bearing walls; the frame, with floral motifs, welcomes alien species such as blue crabs, kelp, and sargassum, natural symbols of human negligence toward the ecosystem.
Alessandro Signoretti (Italy, 1994) lives in Milan. Graduated in Urban Planning from thePolitecnico, he explores the urban and territorial nature through a poetic and enigmatic lens, intertwining art, science, and philosophy. Through maps and cutting-edge techniques, heinvestigates the landscape as a memory of the cosmos crystallized in the sky. He hascollaborated with international institutions and exhibits in Italy and abroad.
