Weaving Light - Threading Time

Event organised by Janine Thüngen-Reichenbach

In collaboration with Silvia Finiels

Two installations exploring light, thread, and time.
Weaving Light: a thread of light woven into crystal glass, interlaced with textile thread that extends around the viewer. Light reflects, refracts, and transmits differently on every surface, most singularly on hand-blown glass, no two Murano spools alike. The loom here is imaginary: it weaves together light, time, and the viewer's perception. The resulting "cloth" isn't fixed to a surface, it's suspended, shifting with every angle and position.
A Millisecond of Light, Light travels 300km in one millisecond, the Rome–Florence distance. That same 300km of thread was hand-woven, over weeks, into eight yellow Murano glass spheres and eight yarn spheres. Glass bends and returns light, transformed; yarn holds no light, only time.
