The Venice Glass Week 2023, which came to an end on 17th September, achieved some truly remarkable numbers! The seventh edition of the international glass festival, #TheArtOfFire, took place from 9th – 17th September over the course of 9 days, featuring over 250 events in 140 different venues around Venice, Murano and Mestre, attended by a record number of 152,000 visitors from Italy and abroad! The festival offered a rich and diverse programme of events organised by the Organising Committee – made up of Comune di Venezia, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, Fondazione Giorgio Cini – LE STANZE DEL VETRO, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and Consorzio Promovetro Murano – together with over 200 participanting organisations, institutions and individuals. The programme included 113 Exhibitions and Installations, 54 Guided Tours, 28 Demonstrations and Workshops, 24 Inaugurations, Parties and Special Openings, 20 Lectures and Conferences, 10 Leisure and Recreational Activities, and 2 Concerts and Performances, as well as a series of free glassmaking demonstrations on board The Floating Furnace, which returned to the Grand Canal this year thanks to the support of Select.
Furthermore, over the course of the festival, almost 16,000 people visited The Venice Glass Week HUB and The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35in Palazzo Loredan, home of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Campo Santo Stefano.
On the strength of this year’s success, the Organising Committee is delighted to announce that the next edition of The Venice Glass Week will take place from 14th – 22nd September 2024, so mark your calendars now!
